About Marcus Charleston

Marcus Charleston is an award-winning public radio producer and writer. He has spent a large part of his career producing daily newsmagazine programming for the leading public broadcasters in Philadelphia, Baltimore and Pittsburgh. His work has also been heard on the BBC, CBC and CBS Radio. In addition to broadcasting, Marcus Charleston is a freelance writer. His articles have appeared in a number of newspapers and magazines including Men’s Health, Main Line Today, Wilmington (Delaware) News-Journal, Baltimore Magazine, Pittsburgh Magazine and Urbanite. A native of central New York, Marcus received his bachelor’s (Communications/Liberal Arts) and master’s (Student Personnel Services) degrees from Rowan University in New Jersey. Prior to his career in journalism, Marcus worked in higher education, retail management and factory work. His interests include health & fitness, the arts, travel and reading.

I’m a communications professional with 15+ years of experience at the managerial level in public broadcasting with strong storytelling, interviewing and public speaking skills. I’m also a freelance writer.

I’ve spent a large part of my career producing daily public affairs programming for the leading public broadcasters in Philadelphia, Baltimore, Pittsburgh, Phoenix and Columbus, OH. My work has been heard on NPR, the BBC, CBC and CBS Radio.
